Jim Hall and the Permian Basin Museum provided much photographic reference for my illustration of the Chapparral 2J. One of the most radical racecars of all time, the so-called "vacuum-cleaner car" that dominated CAN-AM racing in 1970 had a 70-lb. composite chassis built by the owner of a Dick Newick trimaran.
